Marina Puratchi is an upcoming Tamil movie scheduled to be released on 13 Dec, 2019. The movie is directed by M. S. Raj and will feature Shruti Reddy and Naveen_Kumar as lead characters. In January 2017, thousands of citizens gathered on Marina beach in Chennai to protest the Supreme Court ban on the bull-taming sport of jallikattu. Bowing to immense public pressure, the Tamil Nadu Assembly amended the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act to allow jallikattu less than a week after the protests. A film that captures the protests is coming up for a release after screenings in Canada and Norway and a seven-month battle with the Indian censor board. MS Raj’s fiction-documentary hybrid Marina Puratchi was granted a U certificate earlier this month.
