Cothas has grown into a large coffee roaster and manufacturer since its inception as a neighbourhood coffee roaster in 1949. From a modest beginning of a single store, the company expanded to four retail stores. With demand constantly growing, the company set up its own coffee manufacturing plants in the 1970s & 1980s at a central location in Bangalore. Filter coffee has a large fan following in South India which is growing quickly throughout the country. Cothas Coffee prides itself on being the most popular filter coffee in India. 'Cothas' is a family name. It was during the year 1949 that the late founder and visionary Sri Krishnaiah Chetty started the business of coffee retailing and named it 'Cothas Coffee'. It was a small store selling filter coffee powder to domestic customers and hoteliers. Coffee seeds of different varieties were procured from the local market, roasted, ground, and thereafter packed and sealed in front of customers. Giving customers the experience of the best quality filter coffee powder was the founder’s vision. While pursuing his vision, he mastered the art of selecting different varieties of green coffee beans, roasting it to the perfect temperature and finely grinding, blending, packing and offering it to prospective customers. His vision and the fine art of manufacturing filter coffee were passed on to the second and third generations of the family.The father son duo of Mr.C.K.Sreenathan and Mr. C.S.Nitin that fully own and manage Cothas Coffee Co. has made Cothas a brand synonymous with filter coffee. With ever growing demand the initial manufacturing plants have now been shifted to a more spacious processing facility at Jigani, Bengaluru. The plant is equipped with state-of-the-art coffee roasting and grinding machines from Germany. The coffee is then stored in modern storage facilities and subsequently packed by hygienic packing machines. A dedicated work force has helped the company to expand the business all over India and to other countries as well. The freshly packed coffee is distributed through a robust logistics system to reach consumers throughout the country quickly.
